If you have have been practising Bikram Yoga regularly for at least six months, and following consultation with your doctor, then you may continue your practice as normal during the first trimester. During the second and third trimester, you should change to the pregnancy series during the yoga class. If you have never practised Bikram Yoga before then it is not advised to practice during the first trimester and to start the pregnancy series during the second and third trimesters. Details of the pregancy series is available at the studio and it is very important that you inform the instructor as soon as possible for the correct assistance to be given to you during your pregnancy.
Following the birth of your baby, the pregnancy series can be resumed as soon as you wish and should be followed for the first six weeks before reverting to the normal class. It is perfectly safe to practice while nursing.
Bikram Yoga has also been known to help with conception as it restores balance in the body. If you are having trouble conceiving, you and your partner should attend class regularly. The goal is to bring optimum health to your bodies.
